Is there a more beautiful and interesting sculpture museum in all the world than the Nasher Sculpture Center? No, there's not. The Nasher wins this prize, and they win it hands down. And if you haven't been there? Don't walk, RUN to experience it for yourself! In a world which now offers a sea of cultural wonderfulness, the Nasher Sculpture Center is one of the undisputed cherries on top.

The seeds for the Nasher Sculpture Center in downtown Dallas were planted in the early 50's, when Raymond and Patsy Nasher started collecting ethnographic and archaeological works. They also acquired a number of important American modernist works during that time. And they never looked back. Fast forward to present day and you can clearly tell they collected with zeal. And let's not leave out the passion.....because the collection and building are highly inspired. Excellence shows at every turn in this stunning travertine masterpiece of a building.

And just how brilliant has the Nasher Sculpture Center built it's current collection? Well, the show-stopper art now in residence includes major works by Henry Moore, Picasso, Joan Miro, Alexander Calder, Isamu Noguchi, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Carl Andre, Alexander Archipenko, Jean Arp, Constantin Brancusi, Jeff Koons and many others. Throw in a stunningly unique and beautiful structure designed by famous architect Renzo Piano and you've got a thriller of an experience which can't be missed. Still under the careful stewardship of the Nasher family and Director Jeremy Strick, this is a cultural gem of the highest order.

OK, by now you can tell we are devoted fans of the Nasher Sculpture Center here at The Old State House of Web Design & Development. After all, great design and fine art like they deliver there will always thrill us. But did I mention they have the best house-made potato chips on planet earth in their Nasher Cafe? Yes, indeed they do. This cafe is a cool and relaxing place to disappear...overlooking a sweeping sculptural garden (with pools and fountains extraordinaire) just beyond the window. Ahh, a wonderful and peaceful escape. And quite frankly, a slice of Heaven right in downtown Dallas.

The gift shop is also very inspired. It sells creative and artful objects and gifts you simply can't find anywhere else. The items I've bought there always get noticed. Interesting watches, books, jewelry, sculptural fare, elegant trinkets from the far corners of the imagination. In a quandary for what to get the person who has everything? Relax. Just go to their gift shop. Problem solved!

So, make sure to experience the cultural joy ride that is the Nasher Sculpture Center. It's located at 2001 Flora Street, right across from the Dallas Museum of Art. Their phone number is 214-242-5100 and their hours are 11:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday. Closed Monday. Their website is www.NasherSculptureCenter.org. The facilities include beautiful conference and other event rentals. The current special exhibition is the wonderful TONY CRAGG: SEEING THINGS...through January 8th.

Thank you Nasher Sculpture Center. You continue to surprise with show-stopper art, exhibitions and other thrilling experiences in everything you do!
