Interactive Touchscreen Game Design & Development, Deployment & Delivery
Located on the shores of White Rock Lake, the Dallas Arboretum is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful spots not only in the city, but in the country. Boasting 19 finely manicured gardens, seasonal festivals and activities, a robust trial garden program, adult and youth education programs, and a brand new eight-acre children’s garden, it is no mystery why the Travel Channel has called the Dallas Arboretum “one of the best botanical gardens in the United States.”
As beautiful as the garden is, the Arboretum's former website did not follow suit. A website update was desperately needed. The Old State worked closely with Arboretum personnel to create a new, responsive site and content worthy of the Dallas Arboretum moniker.
Along with the new site, the Arboretum tagged TOS to bring 980 interactive educational games to life on over 120 outdoor touchscreen displays in the brand new Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden. TOS worked with both Arboretum staff and a diverse team of contractors to complete this monumental task.
In order to give the Arboretum teaching staff the flexibility needed to keep up with curriculum, we installed the Governor content management system on all screens, giving Arboretum staff the ability to change content on any screen at any time. In addition to this, we developed TOS Monocle, our impressive new software which relays information directly to the many different screens.
The result of all our effort is an extremely satisfying blend of entertainment and education that will be enjoyed by millions of children for years to come.
